Whipple Creek Grand Opening - Battle of the Bands

BATTLE OF THE BANDS
As part of our Whipple Creek Grand Opening Week we had a Battle of the Bands on Tuesday, October 16, 2007, when we normally have our FacePlant Middle School and High School youth groups. This was an awesome night where 6 local Christian bands got to perform and compete for who the crowd voted as the best band. Really, it was more about connecting young people to Christ and getting local Christain acts more exposure then competition. The 6 bands that came out and played were: (1) Casey Marvin, (2) Paper Rings, (3) Left Lane Ends, (4) Hearts Unfold, (5) Styful and (6) The Neverclaim. All of the bands were phenominal. The band who had the most votes ended up being Styful, though the competition was close. One of our church members, Jerry Morris, made a sweet trophy for the winner. The winner also received a gift certificate to Musician's Friend. We had drawings where bands donated t-shirts and CD's as prizes. I just really want to thanks all of the bands who came out and played. It was such a great night. We packed the place out with people who were brought nearer to God through your music, guys. Thanks so much. We will definitely be doing more shows. We also had other youth groups come out and participate in Batle of the Bands. Thanks Simeon for bringing your group out from Calvary Chapel. Hope they had a blast. A special thanks to: Jackson Jackson, worship pastor at Whipple Creek Church who really headed this whole thing up; Andrew Young for lining up so many sweet bands; Tracey Jackson for the sweet-o pictures; Becky Manning for all the preparations you made; Brett Aljets for having such a huge vision; and all the other volunteers who helped make that night happen.
